This is me delivering my kickoff message about Phynyx Ministries at Empowerment Temple's Sexual Assault Healing Ministry (S.A.H.M.) and telling my sexual assault story from the very depth of my soul to all in attendance!!!

Hello Beautiful,
To God be the Glory for the wonderful things He has done! Happy Birthday to Phynyx Ministries!!! On March 10 2012, I gave birth to Phynyx Ministries which is a faith-based organization that focuses on prevention, support, advocacy, and healing for Survivors of Sexual Assault. I have been laboring with this God-given vision for 15 years. Day after day I struggled to be delivered and healed from the wounds left behind by my sexual assault so that I may use this experience to help someone else.
The kickoff event was a huge success! The outpouring of love and support that I received on this day far exceeded my expectations. I cried all day long as I was so filled with joy, that I just could not contain myself. Those who know me well, can attest to the fact that I have really been carrying this vision in my belly, in my spirit, and in my soul for so long that the tears of joy that were shed on this day were warranted. I was so overjoyed to see so many people show up to not only support the Phynyx Ministries, but also to learn more and get involved. To look out into the audience and see so many smiling faces looking back at me, inspired me even more to stay on track and move forward with every aspect of the vision that God has given me. And I'd like to personally thank everyone who attended and all who helped to make the event as awesome as it was!!!
This may sound a little crazy to you, but I thank God for allowing me to be sexually assaulted because now I understand that I have been chosen by God to carry out this vision. I have been chosen by
God to help heal hundreds of thousands of Survivors of Sexual Assault. I have been chosen by God to be a beacon of light to those who feel that they are living in darkness. I have been chosen by God to be an example of BRAVERY, COURAGE, STRENGTH, AND POWER!!!! I have been chosen by God to let each and every Survivor that comes to Phynyx Ministries know and understand that THERE IS LIFE AFTER THE SILENCE!!!

Dr. Thema Bryant-Davis is a licensed psychologist, poet, dancer, and minister. Dr. Bryant-Davis, an Associate Professor at Pepperdine University, is Past-President of the Society for the Psychology of Women.
Dr. Thema earned her doctorate from Duke University, completed her post-doctoral training at Harvard Medical Center, and is a past American Psychological Association representative to the United Nations.
The North Carolina Arts Council named her Emerging Artist of the Year. She has been featured on BET, PBS and C-SPAN as well as in the Boston Globe, ESSENCE Magazine, and Black Entertainment Television's Weekend Magazine. Dr. Thema has been a recurring mental health consultant on The Dr. Phil Show and the TV-One show K-Ci and Jo Jo Come Clean.
She is the author of the critically-acclaimed books Thriving in the wake of trauma: A multicultural guide, Mangos and Manna and The Birthing of a Lioness and is the recording artist on the CD Sky: An upbeat black girl's song. Her work is based in an interdisciplinary understanding of spirituality, gender, culture and psychology.
